O filme trata do relacionamento saturado do casal,contaminado por esse vazio assim como os outros da trama. A notícia da viagem assustou os vizinhos que estavam também insatisfeitos com a vida confortável e chata As traições foram tentativas de fuga que não solucionam o problema,a viagem era o encontro com o inesperado , e o inesperado assusta mas é essensial.O filme seria mais divertido se eles tivessem ido… O drama é clichê , assim como o ideal vendido de felicidade é…essa crítica é muito presente em “beleza americana”..
